WandererCover V4-EC Review

The only difference between the V4-EC IR and V4-EC is the addition of infrared remote control functionality. This allows users to control the WandererCover via infrared remote, making it convenient for field or ASIAIR use. Only a single 12V power cable is required—no need to connect a USB cable if not controlling it using ASCOM, simplifying your field setup.

Exclusive cable management solution prevents damage to power cables during operation; Soft cushioning pads protect your telescope from scratches; Includes cable ties for universal installation

Built-in micro-encoder provides real-time, accurate feedback on cover position, allowing users to remotely check the angle status without opening the monitoring camera. Repeat positioning accuracy of up to ±0.25 degrees ensures precise open/close operations every time. Customizable opening/closing at any angle.
Features a brand-new motor with over 50% increased load capacity, ensuring durability and preventing gear box failure. Designed to withstand low temperatures, it operates reliably even in winter conditions as low as -20°C! After testing, the life of WandererCover V4-EC exceeds 3,000 opening and closing cycles.
In humid areas, dew will occur on the flat panel at night. If the dew does not evaporate in time, it will easily make the inside of the telescope moist after closing the cover, which may cause the lens to become damp and moldy in the long term.
V4-EC has built-in heating elements to keep the cover dry all night or quickly evaporate dew in the morning. The dew heater can be controlled in NINA advanced sequence using the plugin "Device Actions and Commands".(Please refer to the user manual)
Thanks to the encoder, V4-EC provides automatic detection of the open and closed position*. If your device is not around and manual setting is not possible, WandererCover can automatically detect obstacles and set the open and closed position.

*It is always recommended to set the open and closed angles manually! Use automatic detection as the last option only when the flat panel angle cannot be observed. It is normal for the motorbox to heat up during automatic detection. The angle detected is affected by many factors and success is not guaranteed. Do not try multiple times if unsuccessful.

The new ASCOM driver makes use easier. It also supports automatic or manual port selection and connection of up to 6 devices simultaneously.

The new dimming controller boosts PWM dimming frequency by 100%, effectively reducing the occurrence of banding and ensuring no banding during exposures of 0.1 seconds or longer. 255-level dimming meets the flat-field shooting needs, from color cameras to narrowband imaging. At maximum brightness, capturing 3nm narrowband only takes around 1 second!

Warm Reminder:
The luminous diameter should be equal to or greater than the outer diameter of the telescope's dew shield.
For example: If a 100mm telescope has a dew shield outer diameter of 120mm, so you should choose the 125mm model.
